What is IceCOLD®

IceCOLD® is a breakthrough, engineered, 100% synthetic refrigerant catalyst that consistently saves customers up to 20% and higher on their air conditioning refrigeration use by reducing the systems??running time and extending the systems??life.

It reduces your electric energy cost guaranteed 10%, average 15% to 23% and higher.

It improves heat exchange efficiency.

It delivers colder vent air faster.

It reduces noise, vibration and wear of compressors.

It reduces equipment repair cost.

It extends equipment life, because the equipment runs less and smoother.

It reduces carbon emissions and greenhouse gases.

It is the most cost effective way to further enhance system SEER (seasonal energy efficient ratio) performance.

How does it work?

Catalyst #1: removes the oil fouling and allows maximum heat exchange rate by reducing the surface tension of compressor oil molecules.

Catalyst #2: makes systems blow out colder air by lowering the evaporating point of the refrigerant when it passes through an expansion valve.

Lubricant agent: increases lubricity by 54% and makes equipment run smoother and quieter. By lubricating equipment, repair and maintenance cost for system will decrease.

What is Oil Fouling?
Compressor oil naturally circulates through the whole pipeline of systems and produces thin film of compressor oil to the wall of the refrigerant pipe. Over time, the oil film on the wall gets thicker and lowers the heat exchange efficiency of systems. This is called ?Oil Fouling??and ASHRAE reports that it can degrade system performance by up to 30% because of these insulating properties. Oil fouling is generated from the first day of system operation and from all existing compressor oil.

Saving Mechanism

Catalyst #1 Increases efficiency by removing oil fouling and creates energy savings for your business by ensuring the system is running at optimum efficiency.

Catalyst #2 Delivers cooler air and ensures your system reaches set point more quickly, reducing compressor run time, and creating energy savings.

Advanced Lubricant Agent: Enhances compressor lubricant and ensures the equipment runs more smoothly.

IceCOLD® is NOT capable of reducing the AMPERE usage of compressor?s electric motor. However, by removing the oil fouling, lowering the refrigerant evaporation temperature, and increasing the lubricity makes the system 16% (chillers) to 20+% (air cond. Units) more efficient; causing colder air supply (or faster chiller water cool down) resulting the equipment to run 16% to 20%+ LESS.

If the compressor is not running 16% to 20+% of the time, it is not only saving the electricity cost but there are also deferred savings in maintenance and replacement costs.

Compatibility

According to independent Intertek Laboratory reports, using SAE protocols, IceCOLD® is completely compatible with all modern day compressor oils including; traditional mineral oils, and synthetics like polyol ester (POE) and polyalkylene glycol oils (PAG).

Independent Intertek Laboratory reports also confirmed that IceCOLD® is compatible with all modern refrigerants, including;

  • R22, R502 andR12
  • R134a
  • R404a, R407c, R410a, R427a, R507a, R407f andR438a
  • R717 ammonia

R11, R123 and CO2 systems do not have oil fouling; therefore, IceCOLD® will be ineffective and is not used.

FAQ

  • How is IceCOLD® different from additives?
    • IceCOLD® is not an additive, but a synthetic catalyst. An additive changes the nature of the thing it is added to, but IceCOLD® doesn?t. A catalyst is a compound that causes a reaction because of its presence and is not changed by the reaction it caused. It is not consumed or used up. A catalyst does not make any changes to the other compounds in the system.

  • How is ICECOLD® different from PROA?
    • PROA refers to ?Polarized Refrigerant Oil Additive?? As mentioned in its name, PROA is a compound or additive that polarizes the walls of the refrigerant tubing. This is including halogen, chlorine, sulfur or fluorine to wash away the oil fouling like a solvent. The problem is that when heated, these halogens turn into acids and attack the Zink in the compressor bearings and other parts. Unlike PROA, IceCOLD® polarizes nothing. It just eliminates the surface tension to release the oil fouling.

  • How is IceCOLD® installed?
    • IceCOLD® is installed through the low pressure service port while the equipment is running and other than inspection of the filters/coils for proper operation, no service disruptions are necessary. IceCOLD® must be installed by a qualified HVAC service technician.

  • How much IceCOLD® is installed?
    • IceCOLD® is installed as much as 10% of the total oil amount in the whole system. For example, if a system has 4 litres of oil, you add 400 ml of IceCOLD®.

  • What is the lifespan of IceCOLD® application?
    • IceCOLD® is a one-time application for the life of the compressor. There is no problem with a refrigerant leak. However, if the seal on the coils is compromised, a second application of IceCOLD® will be required.

  • Do we need to reapply the IceCOLD®?
    • No. IceCOLD® will remain in the pipes and no further application is necessary if you replace the refrigerant you removed (because some of the IceCOLD® will be circulating through pipe with refrigerant). You will lose some of the effect of the lubricity agent that is in the IceCOLD®. To restore that, add a fifth of the original amount of the IceCOLD®.

  • What happens to the oil fouling detached from the wall of pipes?
    • The oil returns to the compressor. It is still good oil and continues to lubricate the pump. Meanwhile, IceCOLD® continues to do its job for as long as the system is operating.

  • In what types of equipment can IceCOLD® be installed?
    • IceCOLD® may be installed with most refrigerants and equipment. The refrigerant exceptions are R-11 and R-123A. We also do not install IceCOLD® in equipment with coalescing oil separators or oil-free refrigeration circuits such as magnetic bearing or centrifugal chillers.

  • Will the installation of IceCOLD® void my warranty for equipment?
    • No. The Magnuson-Moss Act 15USC ss230 enabled regulation of written consumer product warranties. To protect an additional level of protection to the customer, the manufacturer of IceCOLD® provides an extensive up to five years warranty and a $12,000,000 insurance policy for any unit in which the technology is installed.

  • Can IceCOLD be installed in a system running all the time without off-time?
    • If a system is overloaded (improperly designed), it runs for 100% of the time to cool the space. Then, even after IceCOLD® makes the system 10% to 20% more efficient, it may still run 100% of time. Saving mechanism of IceCOLD® is making the systems more efficient so that they CYCLE OFF more often, thus saving electricity when they are not running. Therefore, if IceCOLD® is installed in a system running all the time, there is no energy cost saving.

  • Does IceCOLD® harm any part of HVAC system?
    • No. IceCOLD® doesn?t contain any harmful substance and have negative influence on the operation of the systems. Various laboratory test results prove that IceCOLD® is safe to use for HVAC system. Additionally, MSDS will be provided to prove that IceCOLD® is harmless to handle.

  • Is the oil fouling caused by the old compressor oil?
    • No. Compressor oil that makes oil fouling is not dissolved or waste oil. Good compressor oil naturally sticks to the walls of the refrigeration tubing due to normal surface tension and causes oil fouling. Even if new compressor oil is injected, the oil fouling will be caused from the first day of operation.

  • How long after the system is treated will we see a difference?
    • You will see the performance of IceCOLD® in a short time for small-size systems, and for large-size systems, a few weeks are needed. In average, IceCOLD® works within 2-3 weeks.

  • How exactly are the cost saving realized?
    • IceCOLD® improves the heat transfer capability of your system. This enables the system to reach it?s thermostatic set point quicker and sustain the temperature longer. This results in a 20+% average reduction in the system runtimes. Click here(Saving mechanism 링크) to see detail information about saving mechanism of IceCOLD®.

  • How can energy savings be measured?
    • According to numerous sources, HVAC represents 35-50% of your total energy consumption. A 20% reduction in A/C expenditures would results in an 8-10% reduction in the total energy bill. Although this is a general guideline, the actual savings will be impacted by a number of factors including changes in energy rates and outside temperatures as well as modifications to your operations environment e.g. new equipment, construction, additional headcount, change in operating hours etc.
